The 1950s gave rise to a new young subculture called the Beat Generation, better known as “Beatniks.” This movement was heavily involved in underground literature, poetry, and music, and those who were part of it had a clear and distinctive look that included black berets, dark, low-set sunglasses, turtlenecks, and cigarette pants.
